Plans for the Day

After an amazing inaugural 2015, second 2016 and third 2017 event, we are again organising a fun packed FREE to attend day for all the family young and old whilst again raising money for CLIC Sargent and Ashgate Hospice.

The event will take place on the afternoon of Saturday the 29th of June 2019, in the heart of our village.

There will be live music and children's entertainment along with stalls. We want this to be a fun day into the evening that the whole community, their friends and family can enjoy.

Please remember that with the help of our sponsors this event is absolutely FREE of charge to attend for visitors so please, please give as much as you can on the day to the charities via the team collecting for them!

The consultation phase of the event for 2019 is now complete, below is an example copy of the letter that has been distributed to every house in the village, we have received extremely positive feedback from the local community which has again allowed us to request permission from Bolsover District Council to close Main Street for the duration of the event.

The Proposed Route

** Please note the above picture is for illustrative purposes only **

As previous years, the route will start at the junction of Budget Lane and Main Street in Scarcliffe, with the run taking you down the hill through our picturesque village, this time through three obstacles to the winner’s line at the junction outside the Elm Tree Inn. There will be plenty of space to cheer the drivers on the track with the engineer's pits based at the Horse and Groom pub like last usual.

As with the previous event, there will be mandatory obstacles for the drivers to attempt and see if their Soapbox's hold up to the challenge.

Please see below a video of the run, during a normal day in the village - looks are deceiving the track is very quick on the day...

First Aid & Keeping Safe

Any first aid required during the event will be delivered by the St John's Ambulance who have kindly donated their services for the day. Look out for them located on the course, we're sure they will have a good pile of plasters & savlon to fix any bumps and scrapes!

Please remember Soapbox racing can be dangerous, therefore please ensure you listen to the marshal's instruction at all time to help ensure your safety during the event.

Never stand on the track and only ever cross when a Marshal signals to do so, at an official crossing point. Stay well back from the barriers at all time; never lean against or over them, and never put your arms and legs through them as the unexpected can happen at any time!

Visitor Parking

Ample FREE parking space has been organised for all visitors to park their cars on the day, please look out for the signs that will be located around the village for directions to the village playing fields, which is situated on Mansfield Road as you drive out of the village towards Mansfield on your left.

Please see the below example map for where parking will possibly be situated with event access routes (final locations are being confirmed). For the 2019 event we hope to secure an overflow parking site to cater for additional cars.
